Improving the Handoff Latency of the Wireless Mesh Networks Standard

چکیده
Improving the Quality of Service (QOS) for the next generation of mobile broadband wireless networks standards; IEEE802.16x becomes the main target for many new researches. This is due to the long time to complete the handover process from the old connection to the new connection in the proposed standard design. In this paper, an improvement to the IEEE 802.11based wireless mesh networks in terms of authentication latency is proposed. The current paper, proposes a new, easy, fast, and secure handover design. In addition to, a new security metric is presented, which is the ability of the authentication protocols to determine the identity of the users who make bad behaviors with a complete preservation to the privacy of the rest users. We can say that it's a very a difficult problem, due to the trade-off between the privacy and the non_ repudiation property. A formal authentication verification method is presented, using BAN logic analysis.

Achieving seamless handoffs via backhaul support in Wireless Mesh Networks
In Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs), mobile clients may experience frequent handoffs due to the relatively small transmission range of the mesh routers. Each handoff may lead to packet delays and/or packet losses, which limits the performance of real-time applications over WMNs. In this work, we propose BASH—a BackhaulAided Seamless Handoff scheme. BASH takes advantage of the wireless backhaul fea...
متن کاملAn Optimization Scheme for the IEEE 802.11 Link-Layer Handoff Process
A growing number of IEEE 802.11-based wireless LANs have been set up in many public places in the recent years. These wireless LANs provide convenient network connectivity to users. Although mobile nodes allowed roaming across wireless LANs, handoff latency becomes an obstacle when mobile nodes migrate between different IP networks. Advanced, the link-layer handoff process disrupts the associat...

The ever increasing demand of the subscribers has put pressure on the capacity of wireless networks around the world. To utilize the scare resources, in the present paper we propose an optimal allocation scheme for an integrated wireless/cellular model with handoff priority and handoff guarantee services. The suggested algorithm optimally allocates the resources in each cell and dynamically adj...
متن کاملOptimization model for handoff-aware channel assignment problem for multi-radio wireless mesh networks
Optimal channel assignment (CA) in Multi-Radio Wireless Mesh Networks is an NP-Hard problem for which solutions usually leave several links interfering. Most of these solutions usually consider the overall throughput as the main optimization objective. However, other objectives have to be considered in order to provide better quality wireless connections to non stationary users. In this paper, ...
متن کاملA Fast Handoff Scheme of Ieee 802 . 11 Wireless Networks
The Handoff delay is one of the major problems in Wireless Network (WLN) that needs to be solved in order to allow time-critical and real-time applications run continuously during handoff. We have developed a fast handoff scheme called NodeScan (or MobileScan) to provide a novel use of channel scanning latency by employing open system authentication. This scheme comprises two steps: firstly a c...
